Hamilton Hosts Incredible Hulk (23)
October 4, 5, 9 - 12, 2007

For several days in October, one block of Beasley became New York City. At least on film.

Hamilton's film-friendly location played a major role in the $180 million Incredible Hulk movie production. With a co-operative City Hall, an abundance of desirable locations, an eager workforce, and attractive tax-credits, Hamilton's streets are proving to be increasingly popular amongst filmmakers.

Those who were fortunate enough to be able to closely inspect the newly erected 'buildings' were impressed at the results. Made out of mostly hollow plastic and plywood, the structures looked remarkable realistic. Even the sidewalks were made to look 'authentically New York': they were strewn with extra graffiti, litter and debris. On the actual production dates of October 4, 5, 9 - 12, Main Street was blocked off from 9 PM to 5 AM from John to Catherine, with a buffer zone partially-enforced in either direction. The street was lit up like a football stadium, with several giant, 100 foot cranes shining down upon the scene. Even from a distance, local residents were impressed by the 'buzz of activity', and the frequent pyrotechnic displays of fire, smoke and explosives.

No doubt, Beasley residents will want to see their community as it was transformed in the scheduled June, 2008 release of the second Hulk movie, The Incredible Hulk.

Once production was over, the buildings were quickly dismantled, and within a few weeks, the street was back to it's normal state. Many residents were sad to see the structures disappear, but at least we can remember the excitement with our own Beasley Photo Diary:
